After I posted the last post I was tagged by Renegade Evolution to list 8 facts about myself. So I will.

1.I like my iced tea unsweetened
2. I’d rather have fruit pie than any kind of cake
3.I generally prefer the company of men to that of women.
4.I usually let my husband buy my clothes, as he’s better at judging size and cut.
5.I prefer the thermostat to be set at 85 degrees in the summer, 65 in the winter.
6. Potatoes, please, fried with plenty of salt.
7.When I was a child, my hair was platinum blonde. Now it’s clairol 7B.
8. I learned to sew when I was nine. the first thing I made was a dress which I wore with pride until it simply fell apart.

I tag the first 8 people to read this post, who haven’t already been tagged.

There’s a few things you probably don’t know about me, unless you’ve met me in person which is like, 4 people who read this blog.

1. I talk to myself, constantly, out loud, moving my lips and waving my hands as if there’s someone else there. I even argue with myself.

2. I am highly skilled at tuning people out, which is why it doesn’t bother me if people witness the first event on this list.

3. I love wearing aprons. I have a medium sized collection and wear them daily. It’s like a uniform or something, I feel efficient when I’m wearing one. My favorite one is a black butcher-style one with the words “Life is too short to cook for you people” on the front. I have my eye on one that reads “Many have eaten, few have died”. I also like the ones at Williams Sonoma, when they’re on sale.

4.My favoriet vegetable is a cucumber. I like pickles, sliced fresh from the garden with a dusting of pepper, I put them on sandwiches, salads, whatever. My favorite recipe is this: equal parts rice vinegar and water, a spoonful of sugar, a healthy pinch of red pepper flakes. Mix this together and add sliced cucumbers. Let sit for a couple of hours before using.

5. Um…*blush* I like disco. BeeGees, Donna Summer, ABBA. I like 70’s Funk, too.

6. I don’t like eating mushrooms. They have a weird texture (even the fancy ones) and taste like a mouthful of dirt. I’m also wary, because some of the highly poisonous varieties look very much like the kind you get in the store, and how can I be positive they didn’t get mixed up by some sadistic mushroom farmer?

7.My favorite book, which I’ve read over and over since I was in High School, is called The Three Pound Universe, and it’s a study of the brain, from physiology to psychology and into the realms of religion and delusion. It introduced me to Candace Pert, the most amazing woman I’ve never met.

8.I have a collection of martini glasses- about 30, in all colors and conformations from a 75 yr old cut and etched crystal one to a funky clear one with blue spots. Every year someone gives me the Bombay Sapphire glass for that year.

9.I will never learn to fly an airplane. Apparently people with bipolar disorder are not allowed to get a license to fly. I guess they think we’ll fly into a building or something.

10. My perfect meal: Friends and family all around, a couple of bottles of good wine, and platters of cheeses, fruit, crackers, olives, nuts, everyone relaxed and comfortable. That would be great.

International Drunk Dlogging Day

Coming soon! Sometime in August! Probably somewhere in the middle part of the month.

indrubloda-logo.jpg

Go to International Drunk Blogging Day or- if you want to be all webbish and stuff, type in this to your thing up there at the top:

innasudrobloda.wordpress.com

Ok so why isn’t it InDruBloDa? What’s the Su all about hum??Well, when I was doing this thing up, I was going to call it International Summer Drunk Blogging Day, and so that’s the site name I registered with WordPress. Then I remembered that there are a number of Aussies who are every bit as welcome to join us as any person from Minnesota or Finland, only it’s not summer there. So I dropped the summer but kept the domain name. Deal with it.

The rules are the same. Go to the link, leave a comment in the comments section, and we’ll add your name to the role.

You can do it however you like. Parties are good, and I’m encouraging a recipe swap. What’s your favoriet booze? What do you like to do with it? Leave all such in the comments area, and if there’s more than 2 or 3, I’ll make another page to put them all on.

I had physical therapy today. Please make note of grey cloud over the word “therapy”. Don’t see it? well, it’s there.

I’ve been doing the prescribed exercises religiously. 5 things, 3 sets of 10 twice a day. 20 mins on the recumbant bike., 30 mins paddling in the pool.

And, (I know, I KNOW!!) my hip still hurts . (give it TIME, rootie, these things take TIME) I’m stretching and pulling and grinding my hips like Theda Bara. Twice a day, morning and night.

I appreciate what Dr. Hodges is trying to to, really. He’s exploring every non-surgical avenue out there, and I deeply appreciate his conservative approach. The fact is, no kind of anything is going to grow cartilege back.

So, they’re working on making the supportive muscles stronger. It’s fine. They’re teaching me things I can do at home, using belts and hoses and cans of spaghetti sauce.

Today, they had me lay on my stomach, strapped a belt to my ankle, and pull on it over my shoulder, stretching the quadricep (whatever it’s called), then they had me doing the Mata Hari as interpreted by Theda Bara, fortunately in a back corner behind a curtain because frankly, one of the therapists is a very nice looking young man and I was worried about forcing him into the priesthood. While doing all this I was entertained by the various noises coming from other clients. Hoots and groans and OMIGOD DON’T DO THAT NO MORE! One woman, behind curtain B, was strapped to something medieval that chugged and whistled while she grunted and sighed. My natural curiousity was tempered by the straps holding me to the table, or I would surely have investigated. To make sure she was ok.

The good news is, it’s Friday. That means something fun and light and tasty for supper (Laab Gai, sticky rice, cabbage, and pickled squash). Sweet Daddio is off all next week HUZZAH! except that he does have to go into Plant 2 a few times, to briefly check on the machine-refurbishing progress being perpetrated by the ones who volunteered to work and get that extra few days on the paycheck.

SD is off for a whole entire week. 9 days. Of getting to sleep late (6 am for him), doing a few odd jobs around the house. I’m told him outright that I wanted him to take himself to the golf course and play a round, all alone, no distractions, just him and the resident osprey. I hope he does it. It’s only like, $14 if he walks.

Passive-Suggestion

you know, a really cool thing about blogging…you can make vague references to things like restaurants and crispy fish, and people pick up on it and call you making inferences that we should have a sandwich for supper instead of cooking, and then you can make a disappointed noise and they’ll offer to take you someplace if it’s “not too expensive”, then you can refer to the aformentioned restaurant and your hankering for crispy fish, and the whole conversation pretends that neither one of you wrote or read any of it. Passive Suggestive, is what I call it.

Procrastination is…

sitting here typing in ways to procrastinate while a basket of clean laundry sits there just getting more wrinkled. It do mocketh me.

Staring at the chicken breasts thawing in the sink, hoping for an invitation to Southern Palace for their Crispy Fish but knowing it won’t come.

feeling mildly panicky about the people coming this weekend but still ignoring the laundry and dog poop on the patio.

Remembering Scarlett O’Hara “I’ll think about it tomorrow, for tomorrow is another day.”

In other news, we got the office painted. It’s a tasty shade of melted chocolate ice cream. In an attempt to make it look less like food and more like something else, I put up brick red curtains and a quilt. It looks nice, like melted chocolate ice cream and red velvet cake. *sigh*

These are a few graphics I’ve collected recently. I got them because I like them. Some of them it’s obvious why I like them, others just appeal. I wonder what Rorschach would say.

ok so…we picked out this nice neutral (and cheap) flooring, we picked out paint which coordinates with said flooring, and then applied the paints to the walls, having been assured that the flooring would be in by June 25. Confident and happy, we proceeded.

So I called this morning to see that the flooring was in and I could drive to Savannah and pick it up.

No, it’s not in and won’t be until July 3.

So I called every Home Depot within a 200 mile radius and got the same response. “No, thing says July 3″. The last one I called, in Jacksonville Florida, he says to me “Oh, no…that’s discontinued. There is no more and never will be.” so I asked if that was true of ALL home Depot stores. He said “Yes ma’am, you might find a box here and there, tho.” Nice guy, thanks for telling me what no one else would.

And now, I have no flooring, and freshly painted walls, and no flooring.

Bah.
