In the past, I've been asked to not participate in childrens activities at church, because I might " react inappropriately". So, sensitive? absolutely, but I don't think overly so. How many news articles do you read that say "suspect was being treated (or has been treated, or quit treatment)for mental illnesses." Or a family member says "we think he was bipolar but he won't see a doctor". The stigma is there, and very real. Would you tell a black person they're being oversensitive if they don't get the same courtesy at a restaurant, or if they are denied something for a nebulous reason? If the author is going to write a story, and say that the subject has this or that disorder, it is incumbent upon that author to do some research and make sure they're getting it right. dpb, it’s hard not to be oversensitive.
