I burst with pride, my bosom overfloweth with bubbly cheer and yummy thoughts…
I do love it so, when there is a news article like THIS.
Why? you say…That’s just awful! you exclaim. What’s so great about that? you query.
Read it. The gal who ripped open the belly of a pregnant woman, in order to steal her yet unborn baby? Turns out, she wasn’t on drugs after all. No indeed. The news article states that she is “being treated for bipolar disorder and manic depression” which tells me immediately that the individual who wrote the article has no idea what they’re talking about. The writer could have said one or the other, because they are the same.
What I find really off-pissing is that the writer felt compelled to make this really public.
GREAT BLOODY GREAT! Now I, being ‘bipolar and manic depressive’ and heaped right up in there with gut-ripping baby snatchers, get to be suspect by default.
OOooOOoo…watch out for that Rootietoot, you know she has the same wacko thang that gut ripping baby snatchers do….Watch out, and stay at least 6 feet away.
I’ll have you know I have never even gutted a fish, let alone a pregnant woman. I have picked a fight with a quartet of frat boys, but they deserved it.
Know This: *oyez oyez oyez* Rootietoot is Non Violent. Rootietoot guts No One. While she might body slam a recalcitrant teenage boy (who most certainly probably deserved it), she would never intentionally cause grevious bodily harm to any human being, unless they were breaking into her house or messing with one of her kids.
Just because a person has a mental illness, does not automatically make them capable of doing horrible things. Most mentally ill people, just like most not mentally ill people, would not cause harm to someone. I daresay there are plenty of murderers, rapists, and child molesters who aren’t suffering from egregious mental disorders like manic-depression, schizophrenia, OCD or any of the other life-altering disorders.
*sigh*
I just wanted to say that.

Comment by RenegadeEvolution May 23, 2007 @ 1:18 amWell said.
This ” “being treated for bipolar disorder and manic depression” says it all: obviously the writer is not the brightest, um, fish in the sea? To think that got past the proofers and editors as well.

Pingback by Being Amber Rhea » Blog Archive » To reiterate… May 23, 2007 @ 8:14 amdpb, it’s hard not to be oversensitive. In the past, I’ve been asked to not participate in childrens activities at church, because I might ” react inappropriately”. So, sensitive? absolutely, but I don’t think overly so. How many news articles do you read that say “suspect was being treated (or has been treated, or quit treatment)for mental illnesses.” Or a family member says “we think he was bipolar but he won’t see a doctor”. The stigma is there, and very real. Would you tell a black person they’re being oversensitive if they don’t get the same courtesy at a restaurant, or if they are denied something for a nebulous reason?
If the author is going to write a story, and say that the subject has this or that disorder, it is incumbent upon that author to do some research and make sure they’re getting it right.
Comment by rootietoot May 23, 2007 @ 11:25 amYou’d think that a reporter who is supposed to be educating the public, would do his/her homework first. Sloppy freaking journalism, IMO.
